  • Charmed!

Mine is a charmed existence. It's a fairy tale turned into real life. Why? Because of the new life Jesus has birthed in me. Is it always music and dancing? No. But through it all my hope and faith is in God, my Father. He is the King in who's dreamland I live.

We all long for that paradise out there somewhere. It's got to be there. Actually, with the Holy Spirit of God living in me this is heaven on earth. Slowly, slowly I am seeing the light of truth dawning. Jesus is now, here, forever. My trust in Him sets off a glorious shower of charmed life-moments!

No. Everything does not go as I would desire. Some days are truly terrible, but as I see Jesus through it all, my heart begins to calm and His peace returns. He's teaching me the beauty of living in His charming world!

And now, here are some pics of our trip to Philadelphia...

  • SISTERS!

Twelve years after all my sisters moved to Montana one of them has returned to Pa. I am one happy sister! Kris, Jared, and their daughter Addisyn moved into their new home last week. We also spent some time together at my house with another sister, Joyce, and her family, who came in to help them move.

We squeezed a lot of fun activity into the short time they were here! Tall cups of strong coffee and wonderful conversation in the living room. Common Grounds Cafe. Brunch at Aunt Arlene's house. Dinner at Casa Sanchez. Cousin Marlene at my house overnight. Cousins over for snacks and coffee. Shopping at the outlets in Lancaster. Sisters lunch at Olive Garden. Playing with my niece and nephew, Addisyn and Camden. Listening to 'Afternoons in Paris'.

What was missing? I wish Mom and Renee' could have been here but I guess life isn't perfect! I truly do thank God for the good times we've had...

My verse for today is in Ecclesiastes: "Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses". How glad I am that He is in control. There is no better authority. The good, the bad, the fun, the work...all we experience will be pieces in the building of our lives if we commit ourselves to His masterplan.

  • Family, Coffee, Cinnamon Rolls, Home

Just now I feel so delighted (this is one of my favorite words - it implies so much joy, energy, pleasure) with how close we live to Dale's parents. I started making cinnamon rolls early this morning and discovered the flour box was almost empty. So what do I do? I call mom, walk over with Jacki and get some flour. She also gives me a sweet cookbook as a gift and I find, as we browse through it, I know quite a few of the ladies who put the cookbook together. We leave, promising to call her when the cinnamon rolls are baked, at which time we will have a coffee break together! This pleasant exchange could not have happened when we lived 20 miles away.

And now, a song I'm singing this week (by Stuart Townend):

How deep the Father's love for us,
    How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
    Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
    My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
    Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
    Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
    His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
    I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

  • State College & More

So I'm not the best homeschool mom out there. I have many awesome ideas but they rarely materialize. This year we are doing PA History and with that in mind we "plan" to take some field trips across this great state of ours. The trip yesterday may not have so much to do with History but it could be considered Art at the very least. We went through the Palmer Museum of Art. Our conclusion was that it may have some nice art but it felt dark, depressing, and gothic. Jacki and I would love to see an art museum with an atmosphere of light and joy. Perhaps someday we'll find it!

We also went to Greenwood Furnace State Park, which was to be a history assignment, but we took too long in State College and didn't have time..or was it energy...to explore the site too much. Instead, I relaxed on the sandy beach while Julian swam and Jacki either relaxed or snapped pics. It was a gorgeous autumn day. Now for the reports that I should coax out of the 2 "scholars"...

    Some of our favorite artworks...

All in all, we thank God for the opportunity to homeschool and we'll take the fun along with the drudgery! In life there are many choices to make and I want to choose life and light through the power of the Holy Spirit living in me.

Sunday was a beautiful day for a hike in the PA mountains. I took my trusty camera and snapped pics randomly. A walk with friends is a pleasure indeed!

Thanks for the info. I am not planning to come out at this point...it's sad but true :( But I believe Richard wants to fly out. Is it a problem if I make a last-minute decision to come? Does the camp need the exact number of people by the 11th of July? If Titus' drive and have extra space there is a
